Country Skies captures the unmistakable presence of the red kite - one of Britain’s most striking birds of prey.

With its piercing eye, rich russet colouring and powerful profile, the red kite has a character that feels both wild and elegant. I wanted this piece to focus on that sense of watchfulness and confidence, keeping the background clean so the feather detail and expression can take centre stage.

The artwork began as my original coloured-pencil drawing, built up carefully to capture the layers of plumage, subtle colour changes and distinctive markings.

The finished piece brings a strong connection to British wildlife and the countryside into the home, while still feeling refined enough to live comfortably in a hallway, study, living room or country-inspired interior.
