My Love for Animals
I’m Jay Foster, a British wildlife artist with a lifelong love for animals, nature, and the quiet beauty in life’s slower moments. As a child, I was always trying to get closer to animals — whether it was watching birds in the garden, visiting farms, or sketching the creatures I wished I could protect. That early connection has never left me, and now as a father, I want to pass that same love and respect for animals on to my children — to show them the importance of caring for wildlife, and to be their voice where they cannot speak for themselves.
Art & Freedom
Working mainly in coloured pencil, I focus on capturing not just the likeness of an animal, but its character — the spark in the eye, the softness of fur, the feeling you get when you pause long enough to really see it. My journey into wildlife art took root during the COVID lockdown, when life shifted and I found myself balancing fatherhood, home life, and the need for creative expression. Those days reminded me of the value of freedom, the small wonders around us, and the power of putting something beautiful into the world.
Influence & the Feeling
Influenced by artists such as Bonny Snowdon, I’ve developed a style that blends fine detail with warmth and heart, creating pieces that I hope inspire connection, compassion, and joy. For me, every drawing is more than an image - it’s a way to honour wildlife, to share its beauty, and to invite others to feel a deeper bond with the natural world.
