On Watch was created around the peregrine falcon’s focused expression and commanding presence. I built the original coloured-pencil drawing feather by feather, concentrating on the distinctive markings, sharp eye and controlled strength of one of Britain’s most impressive birds of prey. The clean composition keeps the attention firmly on the falcon, creating a confident wildlife piece with plenty of detail and character.

The story behind the Peregrine Falcon

On Watch captures the intensity and unmistakable presence of the peregrine falcon. I wanted the focus to sit firmly on that powerful, watchful expression, building the feather markings and fine detail layer by layer in coloured pencil to bring out the character of this remarkable bird of prey.
