ABOUT THE ARTIST

Wildlife art drawn from genuine love of nature

Hi, I’m Jay - a self-taught wildlife artist based in Surrey, creating detailed coloured-pencil artwork inspired by the natural world

with a lifelong love of animals and the natural world. Drawing and wildlife is my passionate hobby I am aiming to also utilise to support my family someday.

From an early age, I’ve always been fascinated by wildlife — not just how animals look, but the quiet character and emotion they carry. That fascination has stayed with me throughout my life and is what led me to start creating detailed coloured-pencil drawings inspired by nature

INSPIRATION

Nature as a father and artist

From an early age, I've been drawn to wildlife - not just how animals look, but the quiet character and emotion they carry. That fascination never left me.

Becoming a father deepened it further. Time outdoors with my children - watching, exploring, noticing - gave my work a new sense of purpose. Nature brings calm and grounding to my life, and I want my artwork to carry that same feeling into the homes of others.

What started as a passionate hobby is now something more: I'm building Art by Jay into something that supports my family, one carefully drawn piece at a time.

MY PROCESS

Every piece starts with the eyes

Each artwork is entirely hand-drawn. I never move on to any other part of the piece until the eyes feel truly alive - that's my golden rule. From there, I work section by section, layering detail until the whole piece comes together.

01

Rough Outline

Every piece begins with a careful outline, setting the composition before any detail is added.

02

The Eyes First

I never move on until the eyes feel alive. The ycarry the emoition - get them right, and everything follows.

03

Layer by Layer

Detail is built section by section in colour pencil, until the whole piece comes together as one.

04

Frame & Enjoy

The finished work is professionally mounted and framed. Ready to enjoy and bring nature into your space.

FROM STUDIO TO HOME

Art made to live with you

Each original is made availabe as a high-quality print or carefully chosen homeware. Whether it ends up framed on a wall or used as a mug every morning, I love the idea of my art becoming part of someone's everyday life.

I also attend art shows and local events, where you can see originals and limited editions in person.

"Thank you for taking the time to visit - and for supporting independent art inspired by nature."
